The Lismore Experience
Come and meet Brother Declan who has lived in Lismore since 636AD. In a multimedia presentation Br Declan will take you a fascinating journey through time – from the first Lios - to the Norman Castle and motte & Bailey – to Lismore Cathedral – to Lismore as it evolved through the centuries. Come face to face with the famous historical manes that have lived here, Miler Macgrath, Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Richard Boyle and the Many Dukes of Devonshire’s.
The Book of Lismore: See the book of Lismore written by monks in the 10th & 11th century and buried deep within the walls of the castle during a raid on Lismore.
The Lismore Crozier was made for the bishop of Lismore in the 11th Century.
The Robert Boyle Science Room
Robert Boyle 'The Father of Modern Chemistry' was born in Lismore Castle in 1627. A working 17th century styled laboratory has been recreated where students can learn of Boyle's life and scientific discoveries. A cartoon style film featuring his life and works is available here. An exciting programme where students can view and partake in experiments is included in this visit.

Guided Tours of the Town and Cathedral
Lismore is an estate town that evolved around Lismore castle. Follow the trail and discover the amazing story of how it still exists despite countless attacks by Vikings and the Normans.
Puppet Making
A tremendous success with school groups. Each student makes his own keepsake glove puppet. A simple material glove can be transformed into a Barbie look-alike, a hairy hog or a Monster (All materials supplied and included in the price).
Towers Nature Trail
This is a magical woodland walk. Each student will receive an illustrated workbook complete with map. Accompanied by a guide students will learn about how a seed develops and grows into a large tree, learn to identify different tree and wild flower species. They will also learn of the different layers of growth in a woodland habitat, look at identifying different birds and insects. Part of the new science curriculum, which explores how trees make their food and what they do with carbon dioxide will be looked at here. Also on the walk explore the towers and battlements of the notorious landlord Arthur Kiely whose harsh treatment of tenant farmers during the famine led to many evictions.
