Off The Ground Theatre Presents
'As You Like It' by William Shakespeare
7.30pm 16th August 2010 In Lismore Castle Courtyard
"All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players"
Deep in the forest of Arden a duke and his entourage live in exile banished from his brother Frederick's court. His daughter Rosalind has remained in her uncle's service to live with her cousin Celia. Before long Frederick grows suspicious of Rosalind and banishes her too. Unable to live without her, her cousin vows to run away with her and they devise a plan to dress Rosalind as a boy and Celia as her servant. With her young lover in hot pursuit Rosalind and Celia make their way into the very same forest in which her own Father now lives.
Throw in a wrestler, some shepherds, a vicar and a wench and you have a forest of farcical frolics.
Come and join Off The Ground for their fifteenth summer tour and watch this young energetic cast weave their magic. Bring a picnic, a bottle of wine and some friends and experience Shakespeare as you've never seen it before!
"It was another excellent show from Off the Ground, one which squeezed not only every comic moment form the play but which with style, turned the performance into an event."
(Twelfth Night) Philip Key, Daily Post
"without a doubt, one of the most fun things you can legally do in a field. The strength in depth of this cast was what really made the show stand out... I wouldn't have missed it for the world."
(Merry Wives of Windsor) Wirral Stages
"A very impressive company."
(Le True Histoire de Cyrano de Bergerac) Irish Times
