Job Description

Education Progamme Facilitator and Tourist Advisor

General Responsibilities:

Lismore Heritage Centre has 5 core products.

Tourism, - Involves selling Lismore as a prime tourist destination, delivering Town Tours and Group Guiding and providing tourist information on the area.

Education – this is a large part of our service and delivers; Mobile Science Workshops, which go out to schools in the region delivering a quality education product as part of our membership of DPSM., Ecology Fieldwork for Secondary Schools, STEM Workshops during holidays and weekends, School Tours during May and June.

The Robert Boyle Escape Room - involves taking bookings working back end reservations systems, guiding groups throughout the game and resetting the room. Marketing and promoting the game through social media and other channels as they arise.

The Lismore Castle Experience - An augmented and virtual reality experience which requires group guiding, and storytelling to enhance their experience.

Retail – Sale of stock and experiences includes stock control, dealing with general public, marketing, social media, use of excel and word,  general shop duties.

All of these 5 areas require:

  • Conducting Guided Tours with both adults and children
  • Sale of tickets and promotion in the local area and cross selling.
  • Working to targets set by Management.
  • Providing tourist information to all visitors to Lismore Heritage Centre and Tourist Information Office
  • Provide back up when necessary to management in the delivery of cultural events and festivals.
  • Keeping record of all visitors to the centre, those looking for information and those purchasing tickets or goods.
  • Craft Shop Sales. Responsible for handling and recording cash transactions. Operating a Cash Register and Visa Card Machine. Answering the telephone. Selling Tourist Literature
  • Displaying Merchandise
  • Supervision of students and part time workers.
  • Computer Work including answering queries that come in via e-mail, mail and phone, social media use of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The staff member

  • Must be willing to participate in training programmes as set out by the company. Must be willing to work with the Education Officer for on going training and quality control of the Workshops.
  • Have a full valid driver’s licence, be insured to use the car for work purposes.

Training

Full training will be provided and the appointed person must be willing to participate in training programmes as set out by the company

Salary

€9.80 per hour – 39 hour week, some weekend and evening work required.
