Your guide will take you along this looped walk through a gorgeous, wooded area where the ruins affectionately known as “The Towers” reside. All the while you will be given an account of the story of Arthur Kiely Usher, how the place came to be and the details hidden around the trail. Motte and Bailey

Motte and Bailey

Your guide takes you down along the river Blackwater on an incredibly scenic walk through field and river bank to the spot where our story began, the motte and bailey known as “The Round Hill”. All through the walk you will be privy to stories of St. Carthage, the man who came with his monks and settled by the river and how our history was shaped from there on out. Our struggles and resilience in the face of adversity.

Meet  Greet

Meet & Greet

Your guide will meet you as your bus arrives in town and brings you from there up to the Millenium Park. There you all gather to hear a quick account of the history of Lismore. Get taken on a trip from 636AD when the monks arrived, through to the invasion of the Vikings, on to the arrival of Richard Boyle and the celebrities that stayed behind the walls of Lismore Castle. And of course a few recommendations of must see places in town.

St. Declan's Way

The walk will take in a small section of St. Declan’s Way, this includes a short steep incline on the road into Declan’s path where you will get to see a magnificent view of the Blackwater Valley where we take a short break and chat about the man himself.
